Aero Club Milano hostory begins in 1926. Born as section of the Automobile Club Milano in the crib of the Italian aviation: the field of Taliedo, today Linate, at the time center of great aeronautical shops as Caproni and Magni.
In 1926 on Taliedo Airfield
In WWI postwar period Aero Club Milano trains civil and military pilots and promotes raids and aeronautical records, such as the African raid of the young lady Gaby Angelini, pioneer of the female flight in the '20s. At that time begins the sporting tradition of the Club, organizing the first Italian competition of Air Rally, the "Giro di Lombardia" in 1932.After WWII, Aero Club Milano acquires three Piper J3C Cub, coming from military allied surplus camp next to Naples and flown with a lot of mishaps up to Milan. One of these three historical aircrafts, I-MALU, in her shining yellow livery, is still among the jewels of the Club: restored and under perfect flight conditions, it is among the most beloved aircrafts of the Club.
Moving to Bresso
In 1960, while Linate airport is in full development, Aero Club Milano moves him to Bresso. This area had been destined since 1912 to the activity of flight by a testamentary legacy to the Italian State, with the obligation to maintain its destination.Throughout the years, the airport turned to be training canter for military pilots, deposit and maintenance yard. And, during the WWII, base of fighters airplanes and main aerial defense field of Milan area.
In the postwar period the airport is progressively decommissioned by Italian Air Force. In 1960 Aero Club Milano moves in, soon becoming its principal user and finalizing the present tourist and sporting destination of the field. In 1965 an asphalt runway replaces the grass one, allowing full flight activity during the winter season.
The wide area originally part of the airport has notably shrun over time, even if flight activity has grown. At least 50% of the ground has been handed over to public use creating Milan's North Park, great green lung which the airport is pleasantly integrated in.
