Sep 13, 2004 - The IX Reggiani Trophy at Lucca-Tassignano was a great success! This was the first edition after
Goffredo Reggiani passed away, and has been specially dedicated to him. He had created this Trophy with the intention
of spreading interest in the aerobatics Freestyle speciality which was so dear to him.
The contest, up until the last minute, was in doubt due to heavy rain over the airport, but suddenly, just before the
Notam was to expire, a bright blue sky appeared again and permitted all flights to be completed in a breeze: many
enthusiasts attended the competition, clearly demonstrating the formula's validity.
The French pilot Nicolas Ivanoff won the trophy on CAP-232, followed by Sergio Dallan on SU-31
and Maurizio Costa on CAP-232 again.
As a side event, several intro aerobatic flights were flown by local pilots, alongside the instructors Sergio Dallan
or Maurizio Costa, on the CAP-10B I-IZAL which had been flown to Lucca by Contest Director, Andrea Maccapani. We hope
to have injected our friends with the "aerobatics bug" and to find them all attending the next contest!
Maccapani also mastered the "aircraft puzzle game" needed to accommodate all the airplanes in the hangar for the
stay overnight.
Aero Club Milano thanks for their cooperation: Società Aeroporto di Lucca, Aero Club Lucca, Aero Club Volovelistico
Toscano as well as all the many volunteers who, finding themselves by chance in the operations, so kindly and
effectively offered their contribution to the event's success.
